附录1：尼泊尔国际佛学院简介(International Buddhist Academy，简称IBA)
在尼泊尔教育体制之外虽然还有其它藏传佛教的佛学院，但是专为外国学生而设计的，只有国际佛学院(International Buddhist Academy，简称IBA)。这座学校是由堪布阿贝仁波切(Very Ven. Khenpo Appey Rinpoche, 1927- )所创建的。堪布阿贝是现任萨迦法王(the 41st H.H. Sakya Trizin，1941-)的经师，在藏传佛教界的声望很高。1972年，他在北印度慕苏理(Mussoorie)创办萨迦佛学院(Sakya College)，学生包括第三世宗萨钦哲仁波切(Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche,1961-)等一时之选。
1989年，堪布阿贝在台湾施主的赞助下，买下了现在国际佛学院的校地，1995年起在以新加坡、台湾为主的施主护持下，开始动工兴建学院校舍，直到 2001年全部完工，落成启用。
师资
院长堪布阿贝堪称当代藏传佛教显密两方面的第一把交椅，二十岁左右就以着书反驳宁玛派大师米胖仁波切(Mipham Rinpoche,1846-1912)对声闻断证功德的观点而声名大噪，1959年以前担任过康区色迥寺与卫藏萨迦哦寺佛学院堪布，1964年起担任萨迦法王经师。现在萨迦派的转世活佛与堪布，多出自其门下。
此外，国际佛学院的主要教师有：
喇嘛拿旺觉登(Dr. Lama Ngawang Jorden)，他过去师事堪布阿贝，在萨迦佛学院得到阿阇黎学位，此后前往美国，取得哈佛大学梵文与印度学系所佛学博士，现为芝加哥大学南亚学系所藏文助理教授，精通梵文、英文、尼泊尔文、藏文，并通晓德语和法语等现代学术语言。
堪布蒋扬滇津(Khenpo Jamyang Tenzin)，他也毕业于萨迦佛学院，在堪布阿贝退休后，继任为第二任院长，后来前往尼泊尔，在达赖喇嘛与萨迦法王的上师─萨迦茶派法王秋吉崔钦(H.E.Chogye Trichen,1920-)座下，圆满三年闭关。现在在南印度(Mundgod)的萨迦派寺院(Sakya Damcholing)建立一所佛学院，担任院长一职。
格西蒋扬楚春(Geshe Jamyang Tsultrim)，他是著名的第三世德松仁波切(H.E. Dezhung Rinpoche,1906-1987)的亲戚与侍者，舍戒还俗后在美国华盛顿州 Evergreen College得到心理学学士，又在(华盛顿州)天主教圣马丁大学得到心理学硕士学位，此后在Evergreen College任职心理谘商中心十三年。
在藏语教师方面，目前有两位萨迦佛学院毕业的学生：喇嘛蒋巴洛萨(Jhampa Losal)与喇嘛蒋扬桑波(Jamyang Sangpo)等人负责。梵语方面，除喇嘛拿旺觉登之外，印度摩羯陀大学(Magadha University)佛教史系(Buddhist Studies)的硕士Punya Parajuli也可以讲授。
主要课程
有感于过去许多西方佛教学、藏学学者，在学习其方法论后，纷纷到喜玛拉雅地区追随藏传佛教的老师们学习，上课的方法仍是西藏传统的方式，而其成果斐然。因此堪布阿贝的国际佛学院，虽然是为非藏族弟子而设，但仍坚持传统，而不全是西方式教育。
国际佛学院提供的三种主要课程为：(1) 佛法实修。(2)佛教哲学。(3)藏文。
佛法实修课程主要教授基础佛法，对象为对修持佛法有兴趣的学生，或没有时间再接受其它佛学教育的学生。第二的佛教哲学课程则是以较详尽的方式，介绍主要的佛教哲学及宗义。藏文课程的教授对象则是想学习藏文, 特别是佛法藏文的学生。其中，佛法实修与佛学课程，以四年为一个单元，教授不同论典，但学生可以在任何一年加入。
从2001年开始招生起，佛法修持课程内容的安排是：
第一年(2001年)：《阐扬能仁意趣》萨迦班智达着。
第二年(2002年)：《入菩萨行论》寂天菩萨着。
第三年(2003年)：《与亲友书》龙树菩萨着《三现分》哦千恭却伦珠着。
第四年(2004年)：《大乘修心七要》金洲大师着；《修次中篇》莲花戒着。
佛教哲学课程的主要内容是：
第一年(2001年)：中观哲学 (佛教实相论; 存在论) 月称菩萨之《入中论》；中观哲学要点；中观学派。
第二年(2002年)：因明学 (佛教逻辑与认识论)，主要典籍是萨迦班智达的《量理宝藏论》以及相关释论。
第三年(2003年)：阿毘达磨 (佛教之存在论与经验因素分析)，主要典籍是： 世亲之《俱舍论》。国燃巴索南辛给大师之《遍所知之钥》。
第四年(2004年)：般若 (般若哲理及佛果学理)，主要典籍是弥勒菩萨之《现观庄严论》。
这样的安排，是因为国际佛学院虽然也有西方僧侣就读，但学生大多是在家众，因此将传统西藏的五个论题，去除了戒律的部份。其中，阿毘达磨为小乘论着，中观及般若则为大乘经典做了诠释，正确学习这些科目, 将可了解小乘及大乘典籍之内容及意义。因明则是佛教传统逻辑与认识论，可用来厘清一切佛教经典的涵义，掌握因明要点者，可以藉由辨证而完全了解佛陀教法的精要深义，由此而学习并教导佛法。
藏文课程是从教导学生如何阅读藏文、读音及基础文法等基础项目开始，此后逐渐提高文章难度，会话部份则将教导基础藏文会话。
2005年更增聘从中国派到尼泊尔皇家大学的交换藏文教师，可以用中文与英文直接教授藏文。
课程时间     为了保有教学方式与课程内容的完全自主性，国际佛学院目前仍在尼泊尔的大学体制之外，无法给予学生签证。所以课程采密集式教学，2002年起，固定的上课时间是每年六月十五日到九月十五日，这段时间的气温大约是二十到三十度之间，不冷不热，很适合上课。
学校每周上课六天，周一为假日，以方便学生到银行、入出境管理局办理延签等事宜。每天早上从八点到下午六点都有课。换算成台湾学制，大约是三个月内要上完两种七学分的义理课程，九学分的语言课程，总共二十几个学分的课，可以说非常的重，但又十分扎实。不过三种课程安排在不同的时间上课，学生可以视自己的兴趣与能力，决定修课的多寡，学期中与期末有考试或英文书面报告，完成学业者可获颁证书。
在正式开学以外的时间，国际佛学院主要进行藏文经论的计算机化工作，目前已出版有经论、文集五十九部。如果有一定数量学生要求的话，可以在一年中机动增加更多长短不同的学期，教授更多的佛教经论与藏文课程，或进行短期闭关活动。
其它
国际佛学院不以营利为目的，连硬件建设的成本也不打算回收，因此学费相对的十分低廉，不论学生决定要上几种课程，每学期(三个月)的学费，只象征性的收取住宿生650美元，非住宿生仅需要200美元。其中住宿生的费用包括三餐用膳，与宿舍费。
学校对学生的照顾考虑周全，除自有水源，并设有大型滤水设备，因此全校自来水皆可生饮之外。校方并有饭店级锅炉，每天早晚两次提供洗浴之热水。在膳食方面，每餐都供素食与荤食两种选择，并定期更换菜单。
图书馆以藏文藏书为主，并有中文与英文相关图书与录音带等，并设有舒适的阅览室，学生可以完全免费使用。
2005年已教授过《宝性论》等论典。2006年的课程是弥勒的《辨法法性论》、《辨中边论》，以及龙树的《根本中论》。
